Android phone for heart rate monitoring

Release date: 2010-11-01

An app that cuts health care costs. The application level is designed for Android mobile phones, and is used for storing and detecting an electrocardiogram detected by a wireless body area network (BAN, body area network, a wireless body area network in which various sensors are placed in various parts of the body for monitoring the human body condition). display. Its hardware and software come from the IMEC Belgian laboratory, its Dutch subsidiary Holst Centre and the embedded software company TASS.
“The innovation is in a low-power port. This port is used to transmit signals from wireless ECG sensors to Android phones,” explains IMEC. "With this port, we are the first company to connect a complete BAN to a mobile phone for long-term, reliable and mobile monitoring of various health parameters such as heart function, brain activity and muscle activity. ”
The data collected by the wireless sensor is transmitted to the mobile phone, which is then aggregated, processed, and stored by the mobile phone. If the doctor needs to view the data remotely, the data can also be sent over the Internet.
The alarm threshold can be set to automatically alarm.
The mobile phone transceiver connects to the mobile phone via a standard SDIO port. "It can be combined with all the functions currently provided by Google OS: SMS, email, data transmission, data transmission via the Internet and GPS to track the user's location," IMEC said. . "In addition, the phone's hardware has been extended to support low-power communication protocols and low-power radios for long-term medical remote monitoring."
Because the interface is based on the Linux kernel, the system can be ported to Linux PDAs and laptops. The solution will be presented at the Wireless Medical Conference in San Diego this week.
